Controversy! That was the situation going on when this dropped. I remember that a few weeks after I bought this album it got pulled and then re-released without Cop Killer on it. It's funny how things went back then. Every major political group was looking for a way to shut down music that wasn't mainstream. I remember the big deal about N.W.A. and then after that was Geto Boys and then it was Onyx. Somehow, Ice T took top prize with this album though. It is funny to think how he's been playing a cop now for several seasons on Law & Order: SVU. I liked parts of the album, others I thought were pretty unoriginal and had been done before by countless other hard rock and metal bands. The concept though was unique and taking a direct shot at mass media, policing and other major social issues landed this one in to the "classics" file. If you haven't heard it before, grab a listen. For those building an mp3 empire, this is a nice one to say you have just strictly from a collector's point of view. Enjoy!
